Why people test
Drugs bought on the street or online rarely come with a reliable label. A powder sold as cocaine can be mostly a local anaesthetic, a pill sold as ecstasy can contain a different stimulant, and a blotter can carry something other than LSD. A Dope or Nope test gives you a first answer to one specific question: is the substance I expect probably in this sample?
That answer is useful in both directions. A colour that matches the chart tells you the expected substance is probably there. No reaction, or a colour that is not on the chart, tells you it is not, and that you do not know what you have. The pack is clear about what to do then: throw the sample away.
What a test can and cannot do
A reagent test shows presence. It does not measure how much of a substance is in a sample, it does not see every substance that might be mixed in, and it never makes using drugs safe. Read how to interpret a result before you rely on one, and use the manual to get the steps right.
Part of harm reduction
Dope or Nope neither approves of nor condemns drug use. We start from the fact that people use illegal substances regardless of the law, and that information lowers some of the risks. Testing is one piece of that, next to not using alone, not mixing substances and knowing where to find help and advice in your country. The tests are for adults only, and the law on drugs differs per country: see our legal notes.
